Period:..the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon (vs 1).
Exile Israelites under Babylonian rule for 70 years (vs 12); God repayed the Babylonians according to their deeds and the work of their hands-they themselves will be enslaved (vs 14).
When God judges, fear and trembling follows-horrific outcomes. Do not provoke God to anger-disaster to drink his cup of wrath; only Christ able to do that to contain God’s anger.
Words images: wrath, stagger and go mad, ruin, object of horror and scorn and cursing (vs 12), ..all the kingdoms on the face of the earth..will drink it too (vs 26),.drink, drunk, vomit..sword..will send among you,..disaster on thecity thatbears my Name..will go unpunished..vs 29,..will bring judgment on all mankind and put the wicked to the sword..vs 31, ..will not be mourned or gathered up or buried..like refuse lying on the ground. ., slaughter..shattered like fine pottery.., .shepherds …nowhere to flee…cry of the shepherds, the wailing of the leaders. desteoying their pasture..fierce anger of the LORD..lion..land willbecome desolate…sword of the oppressor…because of the LORD’s anger vs 33-38.
The Cup of God’s Wrath prophecy yet to fulfil…going to happen in the last days and will be horrific.
