Jeremiah prophesied as per the LORD’s instruction. Here God’s prepared to stop the disaster if each will turn from his evil way vs 3. This demonstrates that God is flexible (will relent) in His course of action (i.e merciful). Rarely, God said he will relent.
Listening to God and repents is so important to avert the wrath of God. God warns the people again and again to listen to him and follow his law vs 4.
Jeremiah prophesied..will make this house like Shiloh and this city an object of cursing among all the nations of the earth vs 6 ;…the priests, the prophets and all the people seized him and said, “You will die! vs 8.
He is being compared with Micah of Moresheth and Uriah son of Shemaiah…who prophesied in the name of the LORD; he prophesied the same things against this city and this land as Jeremiah did.
