Holy Spirit

Who is the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Bible
by Matt Slick

The Holy Spirit as mentioned in the Bible is the third person in the Trinity.  He is fully God. He is eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, has a will, and can speak.  He is alive.  He is a person.  He is not particularly visible in the Bible because His ministry is to bear witness of Jesus (John 15:26).

Some cults like the Jehovah’s Witnesses say that the Holy Spirit is nothing more than a force. This is false.  If the Holy Spirit were merely a force, then He could not speak (Acts 13:2); He could not be grieved (Eph. 4:30); and He would not have a will (1 Cor. 12:11).

The truth is that the Holy Spirit is a person the same as the Father and the Son are within the Trinity.

Sin against the Holy Spirit according to the Bible

How to be born again according to the Bible

John 3:5-8 “Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

Righteous living is to stop sinning according to the Bible

1 John 3:9 “No one who is born of God will continue to sin because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning because they have been born of God.”
Thought: do not grieve the Holy Spirit by continuing to sin.
