Irony

Jesus arrested Matthew 26:47-55, NIV

MM

..for all who draw the sword will die by the sword vs 52. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put on my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? vs 53. But how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way? vs 54

Before the Sanhedrin Matthew 26:57-67

Irony-high priest suppose to tell the truth and a spokesman for God instead tell lies (false charge against Jesus)-self preservation, jealousy, politically populsr and correct motivations. In breach the very commandment-not to bear false witness against tht neighbor.

Interesting Jesus answer on who he is ….Yes, it is as you say…and gave a glimpse of future how he will return-…will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven. (vs 64)-honest gutsy claim, big deal. Either Jesus told a lie, insane, self delusion or is the TRUTH.

Matthew 26:51-54,56,59-65
[51]One of those who were with Jesus drew his sword and struck at the High Priest’s slave, cutting off his ear.
[52]“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him. “All who take the sword will die by the sword.
[53]Don’t you know that I could call on my Father for help, and at once he would send me more than twelve armies of angels?
[54]But in that case, how could the Scriptures come true which say that this is what must happen?”
[56]But all this has happened in order to make what the prophets wrote in the Scriptures come true.”Then all the disciples left him and ran away.
[59]The chief priests and the whole Council tried to find some false evidence against Jesus to put him to death;
[60]but they could not find any, even though many people came forward and told lies about him. Finally two men stepped up
[61]and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to tear down God’s Temple and three days later build it up again.’ ”
[62]The High Priest stood up and said to Jesus, “Have you no answer to give to this accusation against you?”
[63]But Jesus kept quiet. Again the High Priest spoke to him, “In the name of the living God I now put you on oath: tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”
[64]Jesus answered him, “So you say. But I tell all of you: from this time on you will see the Son of Man sitting on the right of the Almighty and coming on the clouds of heaven!”
[65]At this the High Priest tore his clothes and said, “Blasphemy! We don’t need any more witnesses! You have just heard his blasphemy!

The Coming of the Lord 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, NIV, GNB

MM

.hope in Christ…will come down from heaven with a loud cimmand, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first..still alive..are left and caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…meet with the Lord forever vs 13-18.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, GNB
[13]Our brothers and sisters, we want you to know the truth about those who have died, so that you will not be sad, as are those who have no hope.
[14]We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will take back with Jesus those who have died believing in him.
[15]What we are teaching you now is the Lord’s teaching: we who are alive on the day the Lord comes will not go ahead of those who have died.
[16]There will be the shout of command, the archangel’s voice, the sound of God’s trumpet, and the Lord himself will come down from heaven. Those who have died believing in Christ will rise to life first;
[17]then we who are living at that time will be gathered up along with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.
[18]So then, encourage one another with these words.
