….not up to heaven…vs 12…Nor is it beyond the sea..vs 13…the word is very near you…mouth and in your heart..may obey it vs 14….command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws…live and increase..the Lord your God will bless you…vs 16.

But if your heart turns away to bow down to other gods and worship them..certainly be destroyed…vs 17.

Th: Northern Kingdom exiled to Assyria first then Southern kingdom (Judah) exiled to Babylon during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar and the Persian King, Cyrus took over Babylon abd allowed the israelites to rebuild the temple about (539 BC).

Blessings-covenant…vs 12-15…pay attention…love you and bless you and increase…

Lord’s help vs 20..send the hornet among them..vs 25-26 images of their gods…to burn in the fire…detestable…set apart for destruction.

their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength,

38. to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today.

39. Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.

40. Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD your God gives you for all time.

HL: God communicated with Isaiah thru vision. Isaiah is willing to respond to God’s calling. The worship of idols and rebellion by the Israelites leading to their downfall. The unholy alliance with Egypt and Assyria under King Ahaz, trusting power of men not God; the show-off of treasures to the Babylonians by Hezekiah. The punishment of Israelites; exiled to Babylon. Prophecies of God raising up Cyrus (post Isaiah) , the Persian empire, the deliverance of the Israelites from the Babylonians and the rebuilding of God’s temple. The prophecy of the coming of the Messiah. Some of God’s character and attributes are revealed by God in this book.

Timeline of King Ahaz (Judah): reigned 735-720 B.C.

Assyrian siege of Jerusalem: 720 B.C-captured Samaria and carried away many Israelites into captivity.
