1 Chronicles 11:10-23

Hgs

David surrounded himself with mighty men in battle-highly talented.

Luke 11:43-54

Jesus not holding his analysis and criticisms of the Pharisees and the religious teachers for their hypocrisy and wickedness-lots of woes to them.

Can be experts in religious laws yet are hypocrites and wicked.

42. “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.

43. “Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.

44. “Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which people walk over without knowing it.”

45. One of the experts in the law answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also.”

46. Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.

47. “Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your ancestors who killed them.

48. So you testify that you approve of what your ancestors did; they killed the prophets, and you build their tombs.

Acts 3:1-10

Peter healed the crippled in the name of Jesus Christ.

God could restore strength to the legs.

6. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”

7. Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.

8. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.

Ah Lord, God..

QT-1 Chrononicles 8-9; Luke 11:14-32;Acts 2:1-13

Luke 11:14-32

A house divided (disunity) cannot stand i.e will crumble overtime.

Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed.

15. But some of them said, “By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.”

16. Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven.

17. Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.

18. If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebul.

19. Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.

20. But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

21. “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe.

22. But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder.

Either for or against Jesus

23. “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

What do you fill your thoughts and soul with?

24. “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’

25. When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order.

26. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.”

27. As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”

Who are cosidered blessed?

27. As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”

28. He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Hear and obey.

Sign of Jonah

The Sign of Jonah

29. As the crowds increased, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.

30. For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation.

31. The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom; and now something greater than Solomon is here.

32. The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and now something greater than Jonah is here.

Hear the good news and repent b4 too late.

QT-revisit Isaiah 13,14

Highlights (Hgs):

Prophecy on punishment of Bablylon, Assyria, Philistines.

The wrath of God is fearsome and trembling:

6. Wail, for the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.

7. Because of this, all hands will go limp, every heart will melt with fear.

8. Terror will seize them, pain and anguish will grip them; they will writhe like a woman in labor. They will look aghast at each other, their faces aflame

9. See, the day of the LORD is coming a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.

10. The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.

11. I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless.

12. I will make people scarcer than pure gold, more rare than the gold of Ophir.

13. Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth will shake from its place at the wrath of the LORD Almighty, in the day of his burning anger.

14. Like a hunted gazelle, like sheep without a shepherd, they will all return to their own people, they will flee to their native land.

15. Whoever is captured will be thrust through; all who are caught will fall by the sword.

16. Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives violated.

Prophecy and description of pride of Satan/ Lucifer-Chapter 13:12-15.

19. Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the pride and glory of the Babylonians, will be overthrown by God like Sodom and Gomorrah.

20. She will never be inhabited or lived in through all generations; there no nomads will pitch their tents, there no shepherds will rest their flocks.

21. But desert creatures will lie there, jackals will fill her houses; there the owls will dwell, and there the wild goats will leap about.

22. Hyenas will inhabit her strongholds, jackals her luxurious palaces. Her time is at hand, and her days will not be prolonged.

The plan and greatness of God. Chapter 14:24-27-who can thwart his plans vs 27.

The Fall of Lucifer-Chapter 14

12. How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

13. You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.

14. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”

15. But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.

Malachi 3, NIV

God the refiner

2. But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap.

3. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the LORD will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness,

Things God hates

So I will come to put you on trial. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive the foreigners among you of justice, but do not fear me,” says the LORD Almighty.

GOD does not change

6. “I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.

7. Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD Almighty. “But you ask, ‘How are we to return?’

Do Not Rob God

8. “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings.

9. You are under a curse your whole nation because you are robbing me.

10. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

11. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the LORD Almighty.

12. “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.

You have spoken arrogantly against me,” says the LORD. “Yet you ask, ‘What have we said against you?’

14. “You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the LORD Almighty?

15. But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.'”

Distinction between the righteous and the unrighteous

A Book of Remembrance

16. Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name.

17. “On the day when I act,” says the LORD Almighty, “they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him.

18. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous
